Owner - 3 Feet Under - September 1999 - Present
Started Internet based retail business. Duties include: researching, locating, and purchasing new inventory, developing product ads in HTML, recording customer purchases with Excel, shipping merchandise, day-to-day accounting using QuickBooks Pro 2000. Wrote custom utilities in C/C++ to automate tedious portions of the process.
Games Programmer - Aeon Electronic Entertainment - January 1999 to September 1999
Silent Hunter II (unreleased):
Worked with our small team to update an award-winning 2-D DOS based game into a 3-D Windows based game. Responsible for support code to facilitate future localization. Replaced all instances of hard-coded English text with text strings loaded from external files at runtime. Established guidelines for in game text to help minimize foreign language gender issues. Worked to convert math routines from fixed point to floating point. Developed method to create anti-aliased fonts for runtime generated in-game art. Created Windows based launcher application for game. Other non-programming related duties included expansion of in-office Ethernet network, upgrading office machines, troubleshooting Win98 dual monitor hardware and driver conflicts.
Games Programmer - Dynamix (a Sierra company) - September 1997 to December 1998
Pro Pilot 2001(unreleased):
Worked on design specifications for proposed new game in the Pro Pilot Series. Used experience gained from prior localizations to develop rules and guidelines for the programmers and artists in order to ease future product localization. Researched the feasibility of using various third party real-time speech synthesis packages in hopes of minimizing localization of in game recorded speech. Researched the feasibility of using wavelet compression techniques to help reduce bandwidth requirements for photo realistic terrain images.
Pro Pilot 99:
Responsible for organizing localization of product. This included merging Pro Pilot 98 localized resources into the Pro Pilot 99 project, writing support code for new Pro Pilot 99 features, and coordinating exchange of code and data with localization crew in Ireland. Other duties included creating the install in 5 languages with InstallShield and rewriting of terrain texture mip-mapping tool to support nighttime lighting effects.
Pro Pilot 98:
Responsible for localization of product in 4 languages against a very tight deadline. Duties included: organization of project, development of support code to facilitate parallel localization, management of QA personnel, and direction of artists.
Red Baron II:
Had various responsibilities including shell programming, code optimization, bug fixing. Was also responsible for working with translators and QA both here and abroad to produce localized versions of the product in 4 languages. Organized and produced a multi-language patch that was capable of updating all versions of the product.
OTHER EXPERIENCE
Extensive experience building, upgrading, troubleshooting and repairing PCs.
Designed and coded a text based Connect-4 game in C++. Implemented the AI for a computer opponent using the minimax algorithm with the alpha-beta cutoff technique to speed up searches of the game tree. Devised a search ordering technique to further speed up searching. Suggested this same technique to Connect-4 guru Keith Pomakis for his Connect-4 game, which made it 5 times faster.
